Originally made of linen, Chambray fabric is now also rendered in both cotton and denim. It is a lightweight, plain-woven material comprised of a coloured yarn in the warp and a white yarn filling out the weft. This typically results in a denim-like appearance. Chambray exists in both heavy and lightweight styles. While heavier variants and those with a gauzier weave are certainly more casual, a lighter weight and more tightly-woven Chambray makes for excellent dress shirts.
